Shalom Task Force

Shalom Task Force was founded in 1992, when a pediatrician in New York approached several members of the community to discuss a problem he was seeing repeatedly in his practice: Jewish women and children with bruises – the victims of domestic abuse. Alarmed by what they saw, a small group of concerned women came together in an effort to begin addressing this uncomfortable and neglected problem. The seed was planted for what has grown into a dynamic national organization – an agency whose aim is to help those struggling with troubled relationships at home, to sensitize our communities so that an individual will not hesitate to ask for help, and to offer referrals to appropriate professionals and organizations.
